Hello MDX'ers, I recently purchased a used 2015 MDX SH-AWD with 120,000+ miles. It too has this issue of the brake pedal being very hard to push down enough to push button start the vehicle. Following the great advice here, I got both the security gate to my subdivision and the garage door to my house (with a rolling code) programed into my MDX homelink and it works great! The trick on the rolling code was to push the MDX Homelink button three times (slowly) rather than push and hold.The push button on the dash was a later advancement from the floor start. I do not remember if any of the dash mounted push buttons were still on cars in the 50's or not. I am sure there were all gone by the mid 50's.The starter is a small, powerful, electric motor. Perhaps the "stiff" feeling sensation is because previous car most likely had a traditional vacuum brake booster and electric brake booster has a different feel @ startup.
