Greatswords are a great early game weapon for the hero as you can get quick access to skills like Unbridled Blade that are high damage. Erik is versatile and can be good with whatever you give him. Boomerangs are better for multitarget mobs while Swords/Daggers are better for single target damage.
I went on this playthrough blind, and didn't min/max the characters based on best weapon. I liked Sylvando's ability to blind groups with Starstrike, and found it landed about 50/50 it would seem. well basicly for everyone its the evolution weapons since you can dupe them except for veronica her best weapon is the 2nd best staff since it increases crit on spells, she doesnt need the evolution staff cause you will not be attacking with her anyway (remove all buffs on hit 8% chance) and for sylvando what ever you want.
