Mar 29, 2010 · We have had numerous inake heater relays fail on 3116/3126 engines. The C7 engines use a heavier relay. The earlier relays are to small to carry the 90+ amp load. On the 3116/3126 engines we have been using the Blue Bird relay that is used for the body heater/light functions. It does require replacing the terminal ends with something much heavier.

If you locate the plug on the heater, you can verify it is getting power before removing the intake housing. If the element is getting power.
