I have a JC Higgins 583.1 bolt action 12 gauge. It's obviously old, maybe as early as 1946. The .1 tells me it's one of the earliest of these. To date I've just had to clean and oil it. Wear on the firing pin head cross pin where it contacts the sear caused it to not cock properly.
