I started with a Kimber Ultra and asked the smiths there to fit the gun with an extended thumb safety. I had no use for an ambidextrous thumb safety.
The Aegis series of guns can be had in 9mm or 45 calibers and with barrels ranging from 3" to 5". Grip fits the hand well and shows concealable size of the 9mm 1911. When firing the Pro I was surprised that the reduction of the heel of the grip was barely noticeable in the feel of the gun or in control when rapidly engaging plates.This gun is a Pro Aegis II 9mm. Any 1911 fans out there almost certainly know 9mm's reputation for having a prickly demeanor in the 1911 platform, which was designed to run best with cartridges that have longer overall length (OAL). The Kimber 1911 Raptor II .45 is a modern take on a timeless classic. It features all of the traditional components of the 1911 along with some modern updates. It has a solid steel frame, a Cerakote finish, a match-grade barrel, and Hogue G10 grips. It is reliable, accurate, and comfortable to shoot.If you like the "melt" of the frame and slide and think that will help with concealed carry, and the satin stainless steel finish,the CDP is for you. If the "melt" treatment doesn't make a difference but the Raptor Scale treatment and the same color finish does, the Raptor is for you. I own an Ultra RCP II and an Ultra Carry II, I like them both.
