Mathews phase 4 vs hoyt vtm.
I couldn't justify the price for the RX-8, so I looked at the aluminum riser model that's basically the same bow (Ventum I think?), but it has almost the identical specs to the Mathews. So it ultimately came down to the features and the longgggg riser of the Phase 4 33. I already have a dovetail rest and that worked better with the Mathews.
Phase 4 actually is an impressive bow. Shot the vtm and P4. To me, who shoots a 20 year old bow and has no loyalty, the P4 was superior. I actually shoot a 21 year Mathews and was planning on switching to the Hoyt because of all the reviews the past few years. After shooting both I like the Phase 4 much better.The thing is, the V3X/Phase 4 and Ventum Pro/VTM are still better than those bows even after their big changes. You can't give a company a pat on the back for making big changes when they're still behind competitors. I will say the Hoyt's DL felt short on both the 30 and 33 in comparison to the Mathews. I was surprised that the longer ata Hoyt draw cycle wasnt as linear as the 30. It had a small dump into the valley similar to the Mathews. The Hoyt 33 also had just a slight buzz in the palm of my hand and it wasnt as quiet as the 30 or the V3X.
