Dual wield builds arent really considered bad, but they are more often than not, less optimal than two handers, feat dependant, stat hungry and gear dependant where other builds usually work better with less. Dual wield ranged xbows is considered better than longbow by many.

There is a bug at the moment which means that if you dual wield hand crossbows, it applies your Dex ability modifier to the damage of both hand crossbows i.e. including the off-hand crossbow, even without the Two Weapon Fighting style, which it really shouldn't. You also only benefit from attack bonuses with offhand for your attributes, but not damage. So it does much less damage.
