Same result as before. The only file created in the Documents\BF2042\settings folder is PROFSAVE. None of the other files were created. This is the case for both computers. This appears to be a problem with my saved data in the BF2042 cloud vice on the devices. BF5 runs fine. BF20142 is unplayable as it will not launch.
After some research and using a trial of the program M3 Data Recovery I could see my files were mostly there still further confirming my initial idea. Using the fdisk command in bash on Ubuntu I could see the drive had a FAT32 partition still, but fsck would report a missing file on any attempt to use it.
