Twisting the cables is a trick to reduce outside interference and prevent cross-talk between cables. When I soldered extensions onto my 7955's, I used the flat ribbon cable. EME mounts the carbs with the bolts in a vertical line where DLE mounts in a horizontal line. This means that if you turn the carb 180 and use a Pitts wrap around muffler, the needles are between the muffler and carb and impossible to access.
