The rear case snap ring is on the top of the rear half of the case, can't get to it with the case still installed. Also, even if you were able to find a way to get that off, the torsion bar crossmember is in the way also and would have to be removed.
For the GMT800's, the transfer cases had a round tag with the specific model info on it. You probably will have better luck finding the specific case half you need by finding/figuring out the model number for your transfer case (for example, for the GMT800's, it was NP261, NP263HD, NP246 and more). Then google for that model number + parts.
