I don't think act 5 merc is even worth using over act2 mercs because of the Auras and polearm provide too much utility over act 5 mercs. I would try to get a Reaper's Toll. It casts Decrepify, which is going to be huge, and it has 11% life leach. End goal, though, should be Infinity.
IMHO act 5 Merc is the way. You want something with kill speed and being able to equip a cheap source of Sanctuary is really good for chaos farm.
