Which makes it funny to me that HO and ID are often at odds in the hospital (ie BMT wants to use some weird restricted antibiotic and ID won't let them). My understanding is that the medical oncologists make more money than the hematologists. In pediatrics, hematology/oncology is a combined fellowship. If you want to do peds onc, you will also do peds heme. As far as your 3rd year, I'm sure it varies by school. At our hospital, the "Red Team" is the heme/onc service.
