LR3 Pinch Sensor Fault. Hello, I'm trying to get my LR3 to bypass the pinch sensor as it seems like a flawed design (already replaced that part of the box once before). I took the bottom part apart and cut the sensor wires and spliced them together and the robot still thinks there is a pinch fault. Is there a way to like reset the whole thing?
There can be a few causes for this, main one being the LR hasn't been cleaned in a while allowing enough litter to accumulate on the top of the base. This results in the globe having to rub against the litter causing excessive drag. Another is the gear box for the drive motor is running dry on lube slowing it down making the motor work harder ... Take the screws out of the bottom of the base. Unplug the wire from each pinch bar and remove the bars from the plastic slots. Now take some pliers, tin snips, or whatever you have laying around and cut a clean, non-corroded piece of the pinch bar off so you have a small piece of metal. Okay, that’s what I figured. Usually when rapid yellow appears, so does the flashing blue. You’ll need to get a DFI replacement kit and replace the DFI sensors and the pinch detect terminals. See one of my recent posts. Just went through this, and my LR is outside warranty. I have a link to their troubleshooter listed.
I finally ordered a completely new pinch detector and DFI kit. I changed it all out, it was working great for about a month. Now these past few days I am back to seeing the pinch detector alerts. I absolutely despise having to open the litter robot and have probably about a good 10x now. I’ve had the litter robot 3 for 3-4 years now.

On the bright side, I replaced my 3 with the 4, and so far it's a lot nicer. Easier to clean, easier to change the bag, quieter. Removed the “2 metal pins” and cleaned them - not dirty and afterwords checked the continuity between them - OK. Checked the 2 magnets - OK. Cleaned the DFI sensor.
