Nissan xterra vdc off slip reset.

I have a 08 S with about 2500 miles on it. My VDC off and SLIP light came on when I started the Xterra today and never went off. Pull your Xterra to an area where you can drive straight ahead without turning the wheel for a couple hundred feet. Have the wheel straight. Turn off engine. Restart engine and pull straight ahead in drive. Light should go off in a couple hundred feet. The book is not too clear on this.

If I hit the rear diff switch the REAR DIFF light goes out and then ABS and SLIP come on. I can hear the 4wd engage both high and low when I turn it on with my door open.
