Yeah, this. A lot of the features in Stellaris are there to assist in roleplaying specific empire types, and I think purging fits in to those. At any time a planet can have only one growing pop, one declining pop and one assembling pop, and their speeds determine the demographics. As a determined exterminator everyone will hate you regardless of what you do. Everyone exept machine empires ofcourse. It's impossible for them to hate you more. Purging is literally what you do. If you're worried about other people's reaction to your purging, you're playing the wrong kind of empire. Damn organics. Always resisting!
