Suspending verizon fios service.
Verizon does have a service called "vacation Status" whereby, at least on some types of accounts, they allow this to me done. You have to determine a start date and an end date, I believe, but I have heard people say they have also come home early and\or called-in to Verizon earlier than the given date and had services turned back on.
