Thanks for the additional data points! Reached out to Rivian CS to see if they could shed any light on my delivery date status change. I was introduced to my guide, who confirmed that my original build is on track with the previous window estimate (April to June 2024), but that if I had any questions about anything I saw in the R1 shop to let her know.

For relatively late adopters not in major markets (like me), I'd guess that delivery of an R1T Max wouldn't be until late 2023, possibly even 2024. If I change to the R1S Max, which is a bit behind in the engineering for the larger battery pack, my guess is mid-2024 and possibly even early 2025. The flurry of delivery related data I've read on this forum over the past 24 hours leads me to the following conclusion; Rivian is not quite ready for prime time deliveries to non employees but feel they will be in 3 more months.
Rivian will be best served by being very, very conservative about delivery estimates. It's like going to a restaurant where they say the wait will be 30 minutes when they know it really will likely be 15 minutes. They over-deliver (from your viewpoint) and you're delighted.
