21205 posts · Joined 2009. #2 · Jul 26, 2017. I have a run that and more power in my Mustang using an AODE which is basically the same as a 4R70W. It's not always the HP that kills them, it is the torque, car weight, how hard the car leaves and rear gearing.

Wheel hop can kill the best rear end. its all about how you drive it and how it is set up. the Corvette ran a cute little dana 36 (very weak and small diff) but they set the suspension up to corner. so its hard to shock that rear end resulting in a rear end that can last 300,000 miles with 300 hp ...May 14, 2017 ... There was a guy in San Diego (Scott Sloat) who ran a Tiger with a Boss 302 and twin. turbos in the late 80's.Absolutely stock, about 400-450 HP. A well built 4l60e can handle some serious power. We have cars running 500-600 and 700 rwhp as the power increases of course the odds of failure do increase but we have had very good results.
