May 6, 2022 · An issue today for my wife. She could not get the shifter to move from park to reverse. Parking brake released, foot on brake… nothing. I hopped in turned key off and back on, shifter still would not move. Playing with the knob I just happened to slightly push down and the rotary shifter then moved out of park and into reverse.

Now if you open the doors even with the shifter in neutral the indicatir will begin blinking and require stepping on the brake to shshi into park and back to drive. The 8 speed transmission is fully electronic with no mechanical shifter attachment (just a park release cable). Putting a console shifter in instead of the dial shifter would just be a stick with a couple of position switches in it, and just as likely, or not, to fail electronically. Turned out under the shifter assembly and center console, there are dual ground eyelets. Mine were not tightend to spec. Tech put on a scanner, with in 1 hour had the issue solved and tightend the eyelets to the ground bolt.
