In Skyrim SE I actually use HDT and CBP-C together (and they work well for me). The earlier SE HDT-SMP files were full of problems, but Hydrogen seems to have a fairly stable issue for Skyrim 1.5.62, which is the set I have had working with CBP-C. That said there are still glitches, and a few modded items are to be avoided.

What I got installed is SOS SE Full 1.1.4, but it has at its core a .dll SKSE plugin which was NOT updated for AE, so it will not work in versions 1.6.* There is a 'SOS AE 1.0.3' which is a AE-compatible replacement .dll, but it did not seem to function properly for me. ... Look for : "Schlongs of Skyrim AE - No DLL Version 1.1.4". It works ...Download manually not to manager, then right click and select properties. On the bottom of the general page select "Unblock" and apply. Then copy it to your MO2 downloads folder.
