The spanner hurling unit seems to only work on top directed to the filter, the durability reader seems to work from any direction. This will only auto repair when the filter reaches 0 durability so it's max efficiency.You can use a logic weight reader to see how much you have in the smelter. As far as using the smelter to get a specific weight when you choose. I don't think that is possible. That is what the logic saw is for. Is to cut down bars and gems to specific size. And the T1 stuff gives you so much money anyway, it doesn't really matter.
